Battle of the Buildings Returns Nov. 13

TK bragging rights are one the line in the annual Battle of the Buildings Nov. 13. Members from each building within the district will compete in fun (and sometimes goofy) basketball competitions.

Principal Starts “TK Strong Call of the Day”

Getting a call from the school principal isn’t always a bad thing. In fact, parents of students at Page Elementary may look forward to getting a call this year. Principal Gregg Bruno is starting what he calls the “TK Strong Call of the Day.” Each day one student will be selected and brought to the office. Together the principal and the student will make a good news call to a parent.

New Page Principal Ready to Meet Students and Families

As a new principal at Page Elementary School, Gregg Bruno admits he still gets that “jittery feeling” the first day of school and is especially looking forward to starting his new role at Page. “I’m going to be present,” he said. “I hope to greet students every morning when they come to school. I’m going to be in the hallways and classrooms and lunch room as much as possible.”

Principal Leaves Big "Princess" Shoes to Fill

Page Elementary Principal Mike Gelmi announced recently he was leaving TK Schools for a position closer to home where he would be able to spend more time with his family. Everyone can understand that. Kids grow up so fast. But his leaving the district definitely leaves some very big "princess" shoes to fill. Gelmi leaves a legacy of wacky hats, socks, wigs, and especially reading month challenges he's happily shared with students year after year.

Good morning Page Families,
I wanted to communicate with our Page Elementary families that I have accepted an elementary principal position at Central Elementary School in Grandville Public Schools for the 2019-2020 school year. It is a K-6 building with some opportunities to grow professionally and half the distance from my home near Zeeland. I am really looking forward to the opportunity but also excited to be able to be home at different times to do things like coaching my boys baseball team etc., that just doesn't work currently with the commute. The distance and family time is the biggest reason for my decision, but excited about a new opportunity to grow.

Page Crowns Battle of the Books Champions

Carmen Reynolds outlasted everyone in the annual Page Battle of the Books Friday afternoon and was crowned the Battle of the Books champion. Logan Cruz finished as the runner-up.

This Page Elementary OM team won first place at the state finals and will advance to the world finals.

Three TK OM Teams Advance to World Finals

Thornapple Kellogg Schools will again be well represented at the Odyssey of the Mind world finals in Lansing this year by three teams - one team from Page, one from the middle school and one from the high school.

Teens Talk to Younger Students About Dangers of Tobacco

They hear about the dangers in television advertisements. They've heard warnings from adults. But still, young people are curious about smoking and tobacco use. A group of Thornapple Kellogg High School students hopes their connection to their younger peers helps get their message across. The high school students are part of a group called Teens Against Tobacco Use (TATU) and their goal is to mentor younger students about the dangers of tobacco use.

This Odyssey of the Mind team from Page Elementary team earned first place at regionals and will advance to the state finals.

Three Page OM Teams Advance to State Finals

Three Odyssey of the Mind teams from Page Elementary School will advance to the State Finals March 16 hosted at TK Schools. This year, the TK district sent 13 teams to the regional competition with 11 eligible to advance. Of those eligible, 10 teams are advancing.
