I am very excited about teaching fifth grade this year. This will be my 15th year teaching upper elementary, and I really enjoy this age child.
I completed my undergraduate studies at Grand Valley State University with a major in English language arts and an emphasis on elementary education. I received my professional teaching certificate in 2016. Since then I have continued taking various classes through the ISDs and within the professional community. Most recently I have been increasing my knowledge about building trauma-informed classrooms.
On a personal level, I have been happily married for seventeen years. My husband, Mike, and I have two boys, Logan who is thirteen and Brody, who is twelve. We also have one furbaby: our dog Tucker. We are very close to both of our families, spending much of our free time with them. Other activities we enjoy are hiking, biking, skiing, traveling and simply enjoying the outdoors. We are avid sports fans, supporting our Detroit Lions in particular, as well as the Michigan Wolverines.
