I am very excited about teaching fourth grade this year. I spent six years teaching fourth grade before joining the TK family at the fifth grade level last year. Fourth grade is my absolute favorite grade; it was when I was in school and it still is today!
I completed my undergraduate studies at Grand Valley State University with a major in English language arts and an emphasis on elementary education. I received my professional teaching certificate in 2016. Since then I have continued taking various classes through the ISDs and within the professional community. Most recently I have been increasing my knowledge about building trauma-informed classrooms.
On a personal level, I have been happily married for ten years. My husband, Mike, and I have two boys, Logan who is six and Brody, who is five. We also have two furbabies: our dog Tater, and our cat, Dash. We are very close to both of our families, spending much of our free time with them. Other activities we enjoy are hiking, biking, skiing, traveling and simply enjoying the outdoors. We are avid sports fans, supporting our Detroit Lions in particular, as well as the Michigan Wolverines.
