Hello!
My name is Matthew Spees and I am a resource room teacher at Page Elementary! This is my third year teaching at TK and I am proud to be a part of this community. I grew up in Caledonia, Michigan and received my bachelor's degree in special education with an endorsement in learning disabilities from Spring Arbor University where I also ran on the cross country and track and field teams. After I graduated from SAU, I moved back to Caledonia and completed my student teaching at Page Elementary in both the general education and special education setting. In that same year, I also worked as a paraprofessional at Lee Elementary before I was hired at Page Elementary in my current position. Currently, I am working towards my Master's degree in trauma and resiliency which focuses on adapting a trauma-informed and resilient focused mindset and utilizing strategies to make my classroom a more welcoming environment for students to thrive and find hope and success. I expect to finish my master's program this May (May 2026).
When not in my classroom teaching in my small groups, you may see me running, out on my gravel bike or mountain bike at the Yankee Springs trail, and spending time with my wife Rachael who is a school social worker at all the TK elementary schools teaching social and emotional skills.
I am excited to return to Page and continue my career in such a welcoming and supportive community and look forward to many more years of growth!
