All month, students read as many books as they could including 30 books on the battle of the books list. But their challenge wasn’t just to read books, they also were tested on how well they could recall what they read.
With team names like “The Pizza Pilots,” “The Average Guys,” “The Potatoes,” and “The 6/7 Deniers,” teams were challenged to recall information from the books on the Battle list. Each grade level had their own list of books and their own battles.
First round competitions took place in the classrooms with winning teams advancing to the final round held in the high school auditorium Wednesday. Teammates worked together to lock in their answers within 30 seconds. There were squeals of excitement as students realized they knew they had the right answer and groans of disappointment if they answered incorrectly.
In the end, three teams from each grade level were named the 2026 battle winners.
